2024 Beijing International Gourmet Festival opens

The 2024 Beijing International Gourmet Festival opened Friday night, heralding nearly 80 food events across the Chinese capital city in the coming two months to offer consumers opportunities to enjoy both fine food and joyful experience.

Themed "Meeting the Flavors of Beijing", the opening ceremony of the gourmet festival, which is co-hosted by the Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau and other related departments, unveiled ten food routes and three food maps with a market opened at the venue to present various regional specialties.

"The event will last a relatively long period of time, covering the whole summer holiday and the peak seasons of tourism and consumption. The extent of the event is comparatively large, involving 26 food streets with special characteristics and food districts in the city and major streets, districts, commercial circles and enterprises, which will all participate in the event so as to offer plenty of choices to the consumers. The consumers can refer to the released maps to find the food that will fit their personal preference," said Wang Huijun, second-class inspector with the Life Service Office of Beijing Municipal Commerce Bureau.

Over the two-month-long gourmet festival, a series of promotional events for regional and international fine food will be held in the city's food streets, food districts and major commercial circles, and by food enterprises.

In parallel, promotional events for food stores and enterprises will also be held online with food consumption coupons worth about ten million yuan (about 1.4 million U.S. dollars) being distributed to consumers.
