A 6.1-magnitude earthquake jolted the waters off Hualien County in China's Taiwan at 7:35 a.m. Friday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 23.74 degrees north latitude and 121.95 degrees east longitude. The quake struck at a depth of 16 km, said a report issued by the CENC.

Residents in Taipei reported noticeable tremors that lasted several seconds.

There is no immediate report of casualties so far.

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck 34.2 kilometers southeast of Hualien's county seat on Friday, Taiwan's weather administration said, with no immediate reports of damage.

Multiple cities in east China's Fujian province, including Fuzhou, Zhangzhou, Quanzhou, and Xiamen, also felt the tremors.

Visual footage showed significant swaying of ceiling lights in some homes during the quake.
