90,000th China-Europe freight train leaves Xi'an
China-Europe freight trains have been promoting trade exchanges for enterprises based in Xi'an, the capital city of northwest China's Shaanxi Province and a hub city for China-Europe freight train services, according to local entrepreneurs.
China's 90,000th China-Europe freight train, fully loaded with goods, left Xi'an on May 25 bound for Malaszewicze, Poland.
China-Europe freight trains have transported more than 8.7 million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers of goods to date, valued at 380 billion U.S. dollars, according to China State Railway Group Co. Ltd.
The city has opened 18 international transportation trunk lines, building an international trade network featuring low cost, high efficiency and excellent service.
China-Europe freight trains have broadened the possibilities for Chinese goods to reach global markets. Chinese new energy vehicles (NEVs) and other high value-added products are shipped to overseas market via these train services. It has helped NEV companies in Shaanxi expand their international sales.
China-Europe freight trains also bring overseas products into the Chinese market.
Previously sea freight was mainly used to transport products, which took about 45 days. Through the China-Europe freight trains, transportation only takes 15 to 20 days, which is fast and has also enabled to decrease one-third of the freight costs.
As China's economy rebounds and China-Europe trade grows, demand for China-Europe freight trains is expected to remain high. These freight train services will continue providing critical transportation support to promote China's foreign trade and further opening up to the world.
