Auroras seen in several places of Xinjiang
Auroras, or northern lights, were seen at several places in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from late Sunday night to early Monday morning due to a massive geomagnetic storm.
In Habahe County of Altay Prefecture, red aurora painted the night sky and shimmered like velvet, delicate and soft, while shooting stars streaked across the sky, creating a dreamlike and enchanting scene.
In May this year, under the influence of a massive geomagnetic storm, Altay witnessed brilliant auroras for two consecutive days. The latest aurora was relatively smaller in terms of scale as compared with those in May.
In the Kuerdening scenic area in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture at relatively lower latitude, photography enthusiasts also captured red auroras together with a multitude of stars.
