Beijing suburban train services halted amid torrential rain

Beijing has temporarily shut down all suburban train services after heavy rain blanketed the Chinese capital on Tuesday morning.

Low-lying roads were waterlogged as downpours intensified over the city center. A blue alert for heavy rain remains in effect across the city.

The Beijing Suburban Railway's operator halted the S2, Huairou-Miyun and Tong-Mi lines until further notice, citing safety concerns over the weather conditions.

The municipal weather bureau forecasts rain continuing into the evening, with heavy downpours expected in most areas.

Certain areas of Huairou, Miyun, Fangshan and Mentougou districts could see over 100 millimeters of rainfall.
