China to send 284 athletes to Paris Paralympic Games
A total of 284 Chinese athletes will compete at the upcoming Paris Paralympic Games, including 126 males and 158 females, as announced during a launching ceremony for the delegation held on Friday in Beijing.
Among all, 95 athletes will make their Paralympic debut in France.
The athletes represent 25 of the country's 34 provincial-level administrative divisions.
The average age of the competitors is 25.8, with the youngest being 15 and the oldest 48.
The delegation also comprises 232 coaches and support staff members, bring the total to 516.
Around 4,400 athletes from about 160 countries and regions are expected to take part in the Paris Paralympics from Aug 28 to Sept 8.
Chinese athletes have qualified in 302 medal events across 19 sports, out of a total number of 549 events in 22 sports on the sports event in Paris.
It is the 11th Summer Paralympic Games in which China has sent a delegation.
