China's transportation networks grew to over 6 mn. in 2023!

China's transportation networks grew to over 6 million kilometers in length in 2023, with the world's largest high-speed rail network, expressway network, postal express delivery network and an interconnected network of world-class port facilities, the Ministry of Transport said on Tuesday.

Fixed-asset investment in the country's transport system totaled 3.9 trillion yuan (about 548.7 billion U.S. dollars) in 2023, a record high, the ministry said.

Last year saw 2,776 kilometers of high-speed rail lines put into service, and 6,394 kilometers of expressways newly built or expanded.

Rural transportation facilities continued to improve last year, with 188,000 kilometers of new or rebuilt roads completed in the rural areas.

The ministry also said that postal services are now available in all established villages across the nation.
