Hainan Province offers unique tea experience with Laobacha Haikou Bus

A brand-new tourist bus featuring the unique traditional tea experience has officially debuted in Haikou, the capital city of south China's Hainan Province.

Haikou is home to a popular drinking culture known as "Laobacha," or Old Dad's Tea, and the bus aims to breathe new life into the local tourist industry.

In the past, local elders would order a pot of tea with dim sum to chat and relax, a tradition now popular with tourists.

The all-new Laobacha Haikou Bus combines sightseeing with the tea-drinking tradition, offering tourists a chance to relax, enjoy the tea, and immerse themselves in the leisurely pace of local life.

"I've experienced Laobacha. It's unique to Haikou and has great taste. After I finish the bus tour, I want to enjoy it again with my family," said a tourist.

Inspired by bougainvillea, the city’s flower, the Laobacha Haikou Bus is vibrant pink and features a panoramic sunroof, a music stage, and a bar serving innovative Laobacha drinks and snacks.

The bus also showcases Hainan Opera and musical performances, offering a unique cultural experience.

"The bus provides the public with an immersive new experience and allows tourists from other places to learn more about Haikou. In the near future, we'll launch more customized and themed bus tours based on the dynamic needs of residents and tourists," said Li Guoan, a Haikou Transportation Investment Development Group staff member.

During the current trial period, the bus routes cover major tourism and commercial areas, scenic spots, and landmark buildings, making it easy to explore and enjoy the city's charms.
