ILA Berlin Air Show concludes with military aviation taking center stage
The five-day ILA Berlin Air Show concluded on Sunday in Berlin, Germany, leaving a lasting impression with a notable increase in the representation of military aviation products such as fighter jets and drones compared to the previous editions.
Held biennially, the air show is a critical event in the global aviation industry and serves as a compass for industry trends. This year's air show attracted approximately 600 exhibitors from 31 countries and regions.
While showcasing new products in the civil aviation sector, the organizers intentionally established a dedicated zone to allow renowned domestic and international defense companies to display the latest military technologies and equipment. This move undoubtedly became the centerpiece of the event.
"Our purpose for participation in the exhibition is to interact with the public. Here, on one hand, we can offer a close-up view of different aircraft models through static displays, and on the other hand, we can demonstrate the performance of fighter jets and helicopters through flight demonstrations," said Peter Muller, deputy head of the Press and Information Centers at the ILA.
The visitors' response to this change varied. While some showed great interest in military equipment, others expressed concerns that the emphasis on defense might overshadow the attention given to civil aviation products.
In response to these sentiments, the organizers emphasized that the global security situation has significantly changed in the past two years, leading to a rapid growth in defense requirements in the aviation sector. Displaying military equipment is not only about demonstrating technological prowess, but also ensuring the safety and stability of the global aviation industry.
The organizers also said many civil aircraft manufacturers also produce military aircraft, indicating the close connection between the two domains, and the civil aviation sector can undoubtedly benefit from advanced military technologies.
