Light art festival illuminates night sky in St. Petersburg
The sixth international Night of Light Festival officially opened on Thursday in St. Petersburg, Russia, transforming the city's Gatchina Museum into an experimental playground for art using the latest in light technology.
Twenty creative teams from Russia, China, Japan, Indonesia, Spain and other countries have created light and media installations as well as immersive and site-specific objects.
In dialogue with the landscape and cultural and historical context of the Gatchina Palace and Estate Museum, the installations interpret this year's festival theme, "About Humanity," aiming to use modern technology to depict the complex relationship between humans, nature, society and artificial intelligence.
The art festival began on August 29 and will last until August 31.
