"Museum Night" event in Shanghai highly popular with colorful cultural experience

"Museum Night", a special event series held in 45 museums across Shanghai, has been heating up the city's cultural and tourism market.

In order to boost the city's night economy, Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism started to launch a "Museum Night" event last summer, which enriched the cultural life for the visitors and brought them a lot of fun.

This year, the highly-anticipated cultural event has returned to the metropolis with a total of 45 museums extending their opening hours on weekend evenings throughout the summer.

Activities such as thematic exhibitions, public lectures, and high-tech experience games have been carefully prepared and visitors of all ages can find the best entertainment for themselves.

Shanghai Natural History Museum held the first event on the evening of July 6, and all the 3,000 tickets were quickly booked out.

In the exploration center, young visitors could participate in exploratory activities according to their interests.

"I took part in the 'Mineral Hardness Competition' and I think it's very interesting," said Zhu Xinyi, a girl traveling from the neighboring Anhui Province.

Her aunt said the night event brought them much convenience to get access to the museum.

"It was so hard to buy tickets, but thanks to the night exhibition during the summer vacation, we finally got the booked tickets," said Zhu Menglin, Zhu Xinyi's aunt.

By extending the opening hours during the summertime, “Museum Night” can not only bring convenience to visitors, but also raise the museums’ popularity, making the museums a cultural brand in Shanghai and a way of life for people in Shanghai.
