Preparations for 7th CIIE progress steadily ahead of 100-day countdown
Preparations for the 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE), scheduled for Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai, are on track as the event approaches its 100-day countdown, an official with the CIIE Bureau said at a press briefing on Wednesday.
Held on an annual basis, the CIIE serves as a major platform for countries and regions to do business, strengthen cooperation and promote common prosperity of the world economy and trade.
Key highlights from the briefing included details on the Comprehensive Country Exhibition, Enterprise and Business Exhibition, and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum (Hongqiao Forum).
The booked exhibition space for this year's CIIE has so far surpassed 360,000 square meters -- approximately the space of last year's event. Efforts to organize trade missions and professional visitors are progressing more quickly than this time last year, with an expected increase in professional attendees.
"To date, over 50 countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation, including first-time exhibitors such as Norway, Benin, Burundi and the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF). This year's Comprehensive Country Exhibition will highlight bilateral cooperation achievements. Participating entities have already begun their preparations for this year's edition," said Sun Chenghai, deputy director of the CIIE Bureau.
Even ahead of this year's edition, many international exhibitors have already secured their spots for the 8th CIIE in 2025. Over 30 companies have signed agreements to attend the expo next year, booking over 20,000 square meters of exhibition space.
The 7th Hongqiao forum, an integral part of the CIIE, is also set for November. this year in Shanghai. Featuring a main forum and various sub-forums, this year's edition will include the release of the "World Openness Report 2024" and an international seminar discussing its findings.
A pre-expo matchmaking meeting was also held on Friday, where over 80 companies and nearly 200 buyers discussed and explored opportunities across food, agricultural products, medical equipment and healthcare sectors.
