Smart agriculture empowers mushroom production companies in Shanghai
A mushroom production company located in the modern agricultural industrial park of Shanghai's Jinshan District has achieved automated production through the implementation of intelligent machines and systems, significantly enhancing its overall production efficiency.
In a workshop of the company, all mushroom-related processes, from bottling and inoculation to cultivation and yielding, are carried out by machines and conveyors operating under an intelligent control system.
An automated machine capable of independently placing baskets of mushroom bottles onto shelves has significantly reduced workforce, with the workload that previously required 10 personnel now manageable by a single individual.
"In the past, we needed 10 people to climb up to the seven-meter high shelves to handle 20,000 bottles in each room. But now, just one person can finish the work of placing over 40,000 bottles on the shelves in four hours," said Zheng Xueping, technical manager of Shanghai Rongmei Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd.
In the processes of cutting and inoculation, the application of various automated production equipment and robotic arms has further reduced the need for manual labor.
In addition, the industrial park also worked with the Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences to foster a new mushroom variety, breaking the technical barriers of imported seed sources and helping mushroom production enterprises reduce costs and increase efficiency.
"The price of imported seeds is 21.50 yuan per kilogram, but the price of our domestic mushroom seeds is 12.5 yuan per kilogram. It can save about four to five million yuan a year," said Chen Lingen, chairman of Shanghai Lianzhong Edible Fungi Profession Cooperative.
