Special Zongzi for Panda triplets
Specially prepared Zongzi, a traditional food eaten by people on the occasion of the Dragon Boat Festival, was served to giant pandas at a zoo in Guangzhou City of south China's Guangdong Province, as an extra offering to the lovely fluffy animal.
The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of Chinese lunar calendar. This year, the festival falls on June 10.
At the Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park, which is home to the world's only triplet set of giant pandas, Zongzi, or glutinous rice dumplings usually for people to enjoy on the occasion of the Dragon Boat Festival, are also provided for pandas this time.
The Zongzi prepared for the giant pandas this time was made by children and contained such ingredients as carrots and other fruits that pandas like to eat. The food was served on a dragon boat-shaped plate made of bamboo, bamboo shoots, and carrots.
Giant panda Shuaishuai, the second baby of the giant panda triplet, first spotted the special gift and rushed to taste it.
"I am very happy to make food for pandas. There are some apple and carrot fillings in the Zongzi I made. I like chubby pandas because they are national treasure of our country," said Ye Xutong, a girl visitor who prepared food for the pandas.
