Traveling with pets gaining popularity across China
The booming of tourism has promoted the growth of pet economy in many aspects.
Nowadays, more and more people choose to take on trips with their beloved pets. This has made customized travel with pets quite popular.
For a hotel of Suzhou City in east China's Jiangsu Province, its nine pet-friendly rooms are sold out every day.
"When we travel, we will prefer pet-friendly hotels," said Hang Zesi, a pet owner.
Articles which help in taking pets to travel and smart home appliances that can take care of pets for owners when they are not at home really see hot sales.
"When owners go to travel, they may leave their pet alone at home. So in this situation, automatic pet feeder, cat litter box and water fountain have become more and more popular," said Liu Chao, head of pet daily necessities group at JD supermarket.
AI is also allowing owners to leave their pets at home when they are on a trip.
An AI device company in Shenzhen City of south China's Guangdong Province has developed a camera based on model algorithm to automatically recognize pets' movements. It even has a function that allows users to take photos remotely for their pets and pose these photos on social platforms.
The product has been on the market only for a year, and its turnover is close to 7 million yuan (about 964,905 U.S. dollars).
"Based on a forefront perspective of animal behaviors, we have been constantly creating new products and categories by combining it with crossover technical innovation. Therefore, our company has been in a rapid growth," said Lu Shengbo, head of a local AI device company.
According to the China Pet Industry Annual Report 2023-2024, the country's urban market size of pet consumption was 279.3 billion yuan, and the figure is expected to reach 361.3 billion yuan in 2026.
