US students explore CMG's media port in Shanghai on exchange tour
A U.S. youth delegation July 11 visited China Media Group's (CMG) Shanghai International Media Port to conduct exchanges and learn more about advanced media technologies and Chinese culture.
The delegation, comprising nearly 100 teachers and students from 14 schools in seven U.S. states, came to Shanghai at the invitation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the China International Television Corporation, a subsidiary of the CMG.
At CMG's convergence media studio city, the American students were charmed by Chinese culture by watching short animations and learning songs that transcend national boundaries.
Then they visited CMG's State Key Laboratory of Ultra-high Definition Video and Audio Production and Broadcasting, where they experienced the extended reality (XR) and the idea mixed reality (IXR) production systems, and explored the behind-the-scenes production processes of TV shows.
"So far, it's been really fun, and it's a great experience to learn about the culture and everything. I think it's a good thing, because we get to learn about how either of us work, or how we act around each other," said Erik, a U.S. student.
"My trip has been amazing so far. I've really loved how beautiful China as I appreciate the opportunity that I get to go here, meeting new people, trying new things. I wish we had a little more time to stay here. I think this has been like a life-changing experience that I'm going to remember for the rest of my life," said Allen, another student from the United States.
At the media port, China's Olympic champion diver Wu Minxia interacted with the young Americans on the promotion of youth sports.
"I think it's particularly good that countries in the world become more connected and know more about each other [through such programs]," said Wu.
