World Games-themed train to promote exchanges between Chengdu, HK

A World Games-themed train departed from southwest China's Chengdu City and headed for Hong Kong on Aug. 06, as an important part of a series of activities for the one-year countdown to the 12th World Games in 2025.

The 12th World Games will open in Chengdu, capital city of Sichuan Province, on August 7, 2025. The executive committee of the 2025 World Games officially released the slogan and mascots for the sports event at a press conference in Beijing on Aug. 06.

The themed train departed from Chengdu East Station, carrying distinguished guests including Sichuan-born Olympic champions, athlete representatives, entrepreneurs from Chengdu and Hong Kong, Sichuan opera artists, and intangible cultural heritage inheritors to Hong Kong.

The train is decorated with the World Games sports icons, which connect the cultural symbols of Chengdu and Hong Kong, such as the giant pandas and the Victoria Harbor, to fully demonstrate the cultural charm of both cities.

The train arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday afternoon. A promotional event is planned for Wednesday in Hong Kong to boost cooperation between the two cities in cultural exchanges, economic integration of sports events, city marketing and other aspects.

"I'm a representative of the Chengdu Retailers Association, and I hope to use this platform to showcase the highlights of Chengdu in our cultural exchanges," said Ou Jianling, secretary general of the Chengdu Retailers Association.
