Xi sends message to 14th China-US tourism leadership summit
President Xi Jinping sent a message on Wednesday to the 14th China-U.S. Tourism Leadership Summit as it opened in Xi'an City of northwest China's Shaanxi Province that day.
Noting that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic relationship, Xi said in the message that the foundation of China-U.S. relations was laid by the people, the door of China-U.S. relations was opened by the people, the stories of China-U.S. relations are written by the people, and the future of China-U.S. relations is bound to be jointly created by the people of the two countries.
He stressed that tourism is an important bridge for the Chinese and American people to interact and exchange, and get to know and get close to each other.
He extended a warm welcome to U.S. tourists to travel to China and make friends with Chinese people, experience Chinese culture, explore China's enchanting landscapes and feel for a real China on their own.
Xi expressed the hope that various sectors of both countries could take the summit as an opportunity to deepen exchanges, build consensus, and take active actions to facilitate cross-border travel through tourism cooperation, renew China-U.S. friendship through people-to-people exchanges, and turn the San Francisco Vision into reality.
The San Francisco Vision was reached at a historic summit between President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden in San Francisco in November 2023. The San Francisco Vision establishes the basic structure for stable development of China-U.S. relations under today's new circumstances.
The 14th China-U.S. Tourism Leadership Summit opened on Wednesday in Xi'an to boost people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries. The event was jointly sponsored by China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Shaanxi Provincial People's Government, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and U.S. tourism marketing organization Brand USA.
