Xinjiang sees early snowfall in several areas

Early snow has been falling in the mountain ranges of northwest China's Xinjiang since September 1, adding great beauty to the autumn scenery.

Several tourist destinations in the region were affected by the snow caused by strong cold air, yet the snow has clothed the vast Tianshan Mountains and the Tianchi Lake in silver. Visitors who were marveled to see the snow-covered landscape in early fall, simply enjoyed themselves by walking and take photos in the silvery world.

"This is the first time we've come to Xinjiang. The scenery is so beautiful, making us feel like entering a fairy tale wonderland," said Gu Xuelian, a tourist from Jiangsu, east China.

According to the Xinjiang regional meteorological bureau, most of the mountains in northern Xinjiang as well as the western mountains in southern Xinjiang will see rain on Saturday and Sunday, and snow is likely to appear in medium and high altitude areas.
