Yiwu sees surge in sales of Dragon Boat festival-themed products

As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, China's small-commodity hub Yiwu City in Zhejiang Province is bustling with shoppers seeking festive merchandise.

Multicolored ropes, fragrant sachets, and bracelets featuring Dragon Boat Festival elements and auspicious meanings have become hot-selling items in Yiwu, known as the "World's Supermarket".

In one of Yiwu International Trade Market's many shops, hundreds of colorful products are for sale, attracting the attention of eager buyers.

Five-colored ropes adorned with adorable "zongzi" charms have become a hot commodity this year, selling up to 100,000 strings a day due to their auspicious connotations and diverse colors.

Additionally, bracelets featuring the dragon zodiac have also gained popularity, experiencing a steady rise in sales.

The peak season started in March and the sales have been skyrocketing as the Dragon Boat Festival approaches.

The festive spirit is further amplified by the booming sales of exquisite, traditional-style sachets.

Despite being priced three to four times higher than conventional sachets due to premium materials and intricate craftsmanship, these unique items have garnered significant interest from wholesalers, with some designs even selling out completely.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, traditionally falls on the fifth day of the fifth month in the Chinese lunar calendar. It will be on June 10 this year.
